Who is Chiz?
My name is Steven Chisholm, colloquially known as Chiz. Beyond my writing endeavors, my hobbies include spending loads of time with my wife and child and narrowly avoiding dismemberment while woodworking. (If you're in the market for an off-balance Adirondack chair made from the faultiest lumber imaginable, my rates are reasonable.) If it's not apparent already, it's not often I talk about myself. I'm from Massachusetts, where no one could care less about who you are, just as long as you don't hold up traffic. I could sit here and try to unveil some more interesting facts about myself, but I've already taken long enough for my laptop to enter sleep mode.

Why Did You Start Writing?
While some may credit Midnight in Paris or The Old Man and The Sea, the book that ignited my passion for writing was The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith. At the age of four, this collection of twisted fairy-tale parodies spurred me to write my very own story featuring a knight's romp through similarly warped world of folk tales. To be honest, I can't remember why I started writing. I had a great childhood, so it wasn't to escape reality. I have no better answer than that it was simply fun. I wanted to exercise my creativity and imagination. My parents can also be credited a great deal; they had no qualms buying me whatever books I wanted.
Describe Your Background in Writing
Like every dweeb, English was my favorite subject growing up. In addition to being a versatile subject that encourages creativity, I always noticed English teachers were always passionate about writing and literature. Their enthusiasm kept me engaged with my creative side through grade school and into college, where I earned my degree in Writing, Rhetoric, and Communications. Since graduation, I developed proficiency in the follow disciplines:
Copywriting: I've created copy for products and services in the financial, medical, manufacturing, and information technology industries.
Blogging: Aside from personal blogging, I have created countless blog entries for clients across all industries, from personal insurance to asbestos abatement.
Journalism: While I never reported on any earth-shattering stories, I did work for a local newspaper covering riveting topics like mattress sales, small-town politics, and high school talent shows.
Throughout the years, I've directed a board of doctors to create a medical magazine to generate sales leads and mapped out websites for businesses. I jump at any opportunity to stretch my writing muscles. Though, my true passion will forever be writing fiction. My best writing is born from fantasy, sci-fi, and comedy.
